Privacy Policy

Odds.School is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are still no accounts and no logins. The one thing we now ask for — and only if you choose to give it — is an email address, for our newsletter and for the free pass that comes with it. This page explains, plainly, what happens to it and to the little else we handle.

The short version

We do not ask you for your name, postal address, phone number, or any account, and we do not build an advertising profile of you. We ask for an email address only if you subscribe to the newsletter or unlock with it.
There is no login and no user account. Unless you subscribe, you are an anonymous visitor.
Your model and view preferences live in your own browser and are never sent to us.
We use our own self-hosted analytics to count page views — no third-party ad or tracking network is involved, and your data is never sold.

Analytics

We run self-hosted Matomo on our own server (anal.odds.school) to understand which pages are used. It records page views, link clicks, time on a page (via a periodic “heartbeat”), and standard technical details your browser sends (page URL, referrer, browser type, screen size, language). To count a visit it sets a small number of first-party cookies prefixed _pk_ (for example _pk_id, _pk_ses, _pk_ref). Because we run several related sites (odds.school, odds.tennis, odds.college, odds.reviews), these counts are combined across those sites of ours — never with any outside network. This data stays on our own infrastructure; it is not shared with any third party, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or to identify you.

Like every website, our server and our host (Cloudflare) necessarily process the IP address your browser sends in order to deliver pages, and our analytics receives it to work out a rough location and to count repeat visits. We do not use it to identify you personally or to track you across other companies’ sites. You can block analytics with your browser’s privacy settings or a content blocker; the site still works.

Cookies

Analytics cookies (prefixed _pk_) — first-party, set by our self-hosted Matomo, as above.
Day-pass cookie (o4_pass) — set when you buy a day pass, or when you unlock with a newsletter address. It contains a signed timestamp and a random value — no name, email, or account identifier. It is HttpOnly, Secure, same-site, and expires after 24 hours. It exists solely to unlock the paid view on your device.

The newsletter, and the free pass

If you subscribe, your address is not stored on this site. It is sent to our own mail service, run by Sole Computer (who also run Odds.School), which is the single place addresses live across our projects. When you subscribe, Odds.School reads the IP address your browser is connecting from and, when our host supplies one we can verify, passes it to that service along with your address, as evidence of when and from where you asked. When it does not, we tell the mail service explicitly to record no address for that moment rather than guess one. Either way, it is not stored on this site. The mail service records your address, the list you joined, your language, a short note of which page you subscribed from, the times you requested and confirmed, and — where each is available to it — the IP address at those two moments. It keeps those last items as evidence that you asked to be mailed, and for nothing else.

Subscribing is double opt-in: nothing is sent to you until you click the confirmation link in a message we send to that address, so nobody can add you to the list by typing your address into our form. Every newsletter carries a one-click unsubscribe.

To unlock reserved games with your address, we ask our mail service a single question — whether that address has an eligible durable newsletter record — and it answers yes or no. Odds.School itself stores nothing: the address you type is passed straight through and forgotten, and the pass you receive is the same signed cookie described above, carrying no address and no identifier.

Our analytics records that an unlock was granted or refused. It never records the address.

To be removed, use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or write to support@odds.school and we will remove you from the list.

What your browser stores locally

Your chosen model “lens”, any custom models you build, and your recently-used list are saved in your browser’s local storage. These never leave your device and are never transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them. (If you use the “share” feature to send a model to someone, the model is encoded into the link you copy — that is you choosing to share it; our analytics strips the link fragment and does not record it.)

Third parties

The Odds API — our source of bookmaker odds. We query it from our servers only; it receives no information about you.
Our mail service — run by Sole Computer, not a third party: it holds the newsletter list and answers whether an address has an eligible durable newsletter record. It is the only place your address is stored.
UniOne — the delivery provider our mail service hands messages to. It receives your address in order to deliver the confirmation and the newsletter itself; it does not receive your IP address.
Cloudflare — hosts the site. Like any web host, it processes the network requests needed to serve pages.
Creem — our payment processor for the day pass (when purchasing is live). Creem is the merchant of record and handles the payment on its own pages; we never see or store your card details. Any information you give at checkout is governed by Creem’s own privacy policy.

What we do NOT do

No advertising networks. No selling, renting or sharing of your address with anyone outside the list you subscribed to. No advertising fingerprinting. No tracking of you across other companies’ sites. No advertising profiles. We do not add anyone to the newsletter without their own confirmation from their own mailbox.

Children

Odds.School concerns sports betting odds and is intended for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18.
